I had it all planned out so that I could at least keep testing and experimenting while the rehab was going on, and even doing some little bit of baking for other folks. Ha! "They" were right when they said "the best laid plans of mice and men (and women) go astray". All dreaming - I mean planning - aside, there isn't going to be much baking around here for a while.
So what do I have to say for myself that I should bother you with this blog?
Here's the happy news: I got a ticket to Cookie Con! Did I tell you how frustrated I've been? I couldn't go last year because it was in Indianapolis, pretty expensive travel-wise. This year it's in Reno- yes, Reno, right next door to me. Easy drive, no hotel rooms, no airplanes, I won't even have to miss my husband at breakfast each day.
Were there any tickets available? NO. I swear I checked within 10 days of the first day of sale, and they were GONE! Gone, a show close to my home, and no NO tickets! Who'd have thought that? Well, I guess all the regular attendees know it sells out quickly, like within minutes of opening sales. Even I know that now.
So how did I get a ticket? At the suggestion of a cookie friend, I posted on all my cookie groups on Face Book. Within 10 minutes a woman in Canada offered me her ticket! (I guess I'll stop ranting about FB for a while!) Thank you Glenda J for finding a way to sell me your ticket, and Karyn V for making such a great suggestion.
Just wait until March, I'm sure I'll have some great photos and stories to share with you form Cookie Con!
And our feathered tenants, the Hen Party, are growing up. They actually slept on their roost last night for the first time ever! They like to huddle together on the floor in the corner of the coop, fighting to see who gets the warm spot under all the others. Night after night I step over them to close their outside door.
But last night? They slept all night on the roost! Just like chickens are supposed to do. I was so proud of them!
Oh, how do I know they were there all night? All the poop was right under the roost. If you know chickens, you know that's a lot of poo!
So, now you know eveything I know. Until we chat again, happy January and my best to you,
