Easier than apple pie and maybe even better! It’s a very good thing that I only made a ½ size recipe of this, because my husband and I ate them all in about a day. Will power may simply equate to not having more in the house.
In fact, they’re so very good that I’m not going to give you the recipe. I want to keep it all to myself.
Well, except, it’s not my recipe so what the heck. It’s actually Ina Garten’s recipe, which is why you know it’s going to be superb. You can find the recipe on page 127 of Food Network Magazine, October 2017 edition. Or you can get the recipe and a video of how to make it at Food Network.com.
I did make a few changes in my version. First, I only made a ½ recipe. If you do that, an 8” X 8” pan is perfect. Second, I used pecans instead of walnuts, just because we like them better. Finally, I couldn’t find golden delicious apples so I used Macintosh in place of them. That seemed to work just fine. I'd take another taste to double check that, but every single bar is gone.
See how easy it is? No rolling the crust, just press it in the pan and bake. Slick.
Give the recipe a try, and let me know what you think, ok?

PS- My husband is funny. He really does like all sweets, but you sure can tell when something is right on the mark for him, and this was it. He ate it for breakfast, a sure tell sign of a winner!
And, uh, I did too. Don't tell anyone, though!
