That being said:
I love Craftsy!!! Upside down, right side up and sideways: I LOVE Craftsy!
But why should this matter to you? It won’t matter to you if you have nothing left to learn about your hobbies or if you hate all crafts of any kind, or if you just don’t have time to enjoy it right now.
However: If you love learning, love trying new things, love photography, painting, cooking, decorating, sewing, crocheting or any craft at all, you‘ll love Craftsy too!
But what is Craftsy? Why is it so good?
- Online Classes
- Taught by Experts
- Self Paced
- Jam Packed
Being tedious as I am, I’ll discuss some of these items in more detail, just to give you an idea about what’s going on here.
And to be really non-compliant, I won’t take them in the order listed above! Of course, my examples are all about my world of baking, so if your hobby is a different one, just imagine what these Craftsy highlights could mean to you!
Taught by Experts: Every class I’ve taken has been taught by someone who has professional training and experience directly related to the topic. For instance, my first Craftsy Class ever was “Decadent Chocolate” by Alice Medrich. Alice has 3 (not one, three!) cookbooks that were James Beard “Cookbook of the Year”. She’s been featured on television with Julia Child, and need I go on? Her bio lists many more wonderful accomplishments around desserts, baking and chocolate and her class was chock full of wonderful and inspiring information. Not to mention owning and operating a famous chocolate shop in Berkeley, California.
By the way, I’ve completed 9 Craftsy Classes, and can’t wait to start my next one, Classic Desserts Reimagined by Elizabeth Faulkner. Do you know about Ms Faulkner? A frequent judge and competitor on Food TV, a James Beard nominee, and owner of 2 Bay Area restaurants, Ms Falkner is a pastry chef of repute. I’ll tell you more after I take her class!
Inexpensive: Classes usually include hours of excellent video instruction for the low, low price of under $ 50. If you watch, you can get most classes for under $ 20 because there are frequent sales. Right now (3/12/17) ALL classes are under $ 20.00. I don’t know how long this sale will last.
You can download videos to your iPad, or watch any time, any place that you have an internet connection, forever. You can watch as many times as you want, you can watch while you practice the skill, you can watch in your sleep if you’d like. (Not really in your sleep since your eyes are probably closed then!)
Jam Packed: Every class that I’ve taken is packed with useful information. I’ve added about 16 techniques to my cookie decorating skill set (now I can do 18 different types of decorations!). I upped my food photo skills by about 80% just part way into my Food Photography class. Because of Baking Basics, I know why I prefer Guittard Semi- Sweet Chocolate Chips to the other brand (Ok, Nestle’s). Guittard, which is gourmet, has 46% chocolate while other brands have only 32% actual chocolate!
Every single Craftsy class has been useful, interesting, well-filmed, professionally done and has lived up to its class description.
THIS is why you need to check out Craftsy now! With its wealth of teaching, variety of crafts and excellent instruction, you can’t miss on any class you take. Plus all classes are on sale today.
And, when you take your first class, come back to this blog please and let me know what your experience was. I’d love to hear from you.
